MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has expressed its intention to take part in the observation of the presidential election in Belarus, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Lidia Yermoshina told media on 12 August, BelTA informs.
“SCO observers expressed their wish to take part in the observation of the presidential election. I think we will have an observation mission from this organization,” said Lidia Yermoshina. In her words, by 1 September the country will welcome about 40 long-term observers from the OSCE. It is expected that OSCE will deploy nearly 400 short-term observers.
According to the CEC head, a total of 33 international observers from the CIS member states have been so far accredited.
