MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Over 900 Belarusian and foreign mass media have been accredited to cover the presidential election in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Information Minister Liliya Ananich on 6 October.
According to the source, the national information space offers full and comprehensive information to voters. “National mass media have left out nothing as far as program statements, meetings with voters, and the work of authorized representatives are concerned,” said the official. At the same time individual mass media have chosen to violate election laws and the mass media law due to their peculiar outlook on their role in covering the election process.
“At present it is important to provide information as comprehensively as possible in order to allow the citizens to make their choice of the country’s future. It is important for everything to proceed in a public and transparent manner,” stressed Liliya Ananich.
Speaking about the work of international observers, the official underlined that everyone, who had wanted to ask the Information Ministry about anything, had been able to do so. In particular, meetings have been held with the OSCE ODIHR mission. Meetings have been held with representatives of mass media and unions of creative professions.
