MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – More than 5,000 transparent ballot boxes have been installed at the polling stations for the 2015 presidential election in Belarus, BelTA learned from Secretary of the Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) Nikolai Lozovik.
The total of 24,283 ballot boxes will be used during the main electoral event (the voting stations set up abroad are not included). As many as 5,008 of them are transparent.
In Brest Oblast, the polling stations are equipped with 3,438 ballot boxes including 389 transparent ones (the figure includes fixed boxes and the boxes used during early voting). In Vitebsk Oblast, the number reaches 3,816 (including 1,987 transparent boxes), in Gomel Oblast – 3,798 boxes (including 460 transparent ones), in Grodno Oblast – 2,920 boxes (213 of them are transparent), in Minsk Oblast – 4,185 ballot boxes (including 285 transparent ones), and in Mogilev Oblast – 3,365 boxes (494 of them are transparent). As for the city of Minsk, as many as 2,761 ballot boxes have been fixed at the polling stations. Some 1,180 of them are transparent.
“We can see that Vitebsk Oblast boasts the biggest number of transparent ballot boxes,” Nikolai Lozovik noted.
A total of 6,080 precinct election commissions have been set up across the country. Another 49 polling stations have been organized abroad.
