MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – More than 400 national observers have already started performing their duties at the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus and territorial election commissions, CEC Chairperson Lidia Yermoshina said in a video address on 13 August, BelTA has learned.
Besides, as many as 33 CIS international observers have already been accredited to monitor the election. “We are waiting for forms from other international observation missions and foreign countries that received our invitation to monitor the presidential election in the Republic of Belarus,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
As was reported by BelTA, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) also expressed its intention to take part in the observation of the presidential election in Belarus. Besides, the election is expected to be monitored by around 40 long-term and 400 short-term observers from the OSCE.
