MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – The OSCE observation mission is expected to publish its preliminary statement regarding the election campaign in Belarus in the near future, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina said at an online conference hosted by BelTA on 16 September.
“I can say that the OSCE interim report will be published one of these days. Moreover, the head of the OSCE mission has requested a meeting with me. We are meeting this Saturday to discuss the document,” the CEC head said.
When asked on any unofficial assessment regarding the election campaign in the country from international observers, Lidia Yermoshina said that she has no such information.
According to the CEC Chairwoman, there are “more than enough” observers for the presidential election campaign in Belarus. “We have a wide and authoritative representation,” she said.
The pre-election campaigning in Belarus kicked off on 11 September. Running for the post of the President of Belarus are Sergei Gaidukevich, Tatiana Korotkevich, Alexander Lukashenko and Nikolai Ulakhovich. The election campaign in the country is monitored by long-term OSCE/ODIHR and CIS observers. It is expected that partaking in the monitoring will be representatives of other states and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The election is scheduled for 11 October.
