Presidential election 2015 in Belarus

“As of 27 August, 45 CIS observers got accredited for monitoring the election. As many as 28 of them are working on a long-term basis. Another dozen of long-term observers will join the CIS mission by 10 September,” the mission said.

The CIS representatives also noted that the observation mission is cooperating with Belarusian government agencies that examine complaints of election rules violations. The mission has already asked Belarus’ Supreme Court, Prosecutor General's Office, the Interior Ministry, and the Central Election Commission to provide information about the complaints they receive from the participants of the electoral process and the results of their consideration.

The CIS long-term observers visited 27 precinct election commissions in all Belarusian regions and the city of Minsk and examined their work. “The monitoring has shown that the commissions have the necessary electoral documents, communication equipment, and office machines. The preparations for the presidential election are on schedule,” the CIS mission said.

The CIS observers attended sessions of district executive committees and city administrations in 16 districts of all Belarusian regions and Minsk. The sessions discussed setting up precinct election commissions. The representatives of the CIS mission also attended seven sessions to discuss the progress in the verification of the signatures given by voters to support potential presidential candidates.

The CIS election observation mission started working on 12 August.
