MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – The president election in Belarus was compliant with democratic principles, head of the CIS observation mission Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.
"The observation mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States concludes: the 11 October 2015 election was conducted in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Code of Belarus. The election met the democratic principles and was transparent, open and competitive. The authorities of Belarus and the election commissions of all levels ensured the fulfillment of the rights of citizens to free expression of will," said Sergei Lebedev.
The statement of the CIS observers will shortly be posted on the websites of the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow and Minsk.
