MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - The 2015 president election in Belarus left a very strong impression, doctor of political science at the University of Vienna (Austria) Peter Bachmeier said in interview the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
"The election left a very strong impression in the first place because it was very well organized. The commissions worked well, and it was noticeable,” said Peter Bachmaier.
The Austrian scientist noted that in the capacity of an independent international observer he visited 10 polling stations and witnessed the good organization of the election.
Speaking about the high early voting turnout, he compared this process with the same one in Austria. According to Peter Bachmaier, in his country voters can vote by mail, which is not yet possible in Belarus. But he is sure that the early voting process in the Belarusian elections did not give grounds for criticism.
Peter Bachmaier also underlined that, in his view, the current president election in Belarus conformed to European standards.
