MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – The CIS long-term observers will be able to provide a most detailed report after the presidential election in Belarus, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina said as she met with head of the CIS observation mission at the presidential election, Chairman of the Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev on 18 August, BelTA has learned.
“We expect that the OSCE long-term observers will get down to work on 1 September. You start earlier and will be ahead of them. Your mission will have more time to get a better insight into the election campaign and provide a more detailed report,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
The CIS mission will include a CIS IPA group of observers led by Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Yuri Vorobyov. The OSCE and PACE are expected to send missions to monitor the election. It is planned that by 1 September the OSCE will deploy around 40 long-term and 400 short-term observers to Belarus. Besides, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) also expressed its intention to take part in the observation of the presidential election in Belarus.
