Election 2015 info center to operate in Minsk on 10-12 October

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – The information center Election 2015 will operate at the Palace of the Republic on 10-12 October, Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik said at the CEC meeting on 6 August, BelTA informs.

“The center will operate during this year’s election campaign. It will be deployed at the Palace of the Republic on 10-12 October,” Nikolai Lozovik said.

In his words, the center will provide information on the voting process and the voter turnout using the data of the Central Election Commission. “With every new election campaign we do our best to introduce new elements into the work of the information center,” the CEC secretary said. A practice of video conferencing with chairpersons of the oblast election commissions was used at the previous elections. “It is possible that this year the practice will be expanded to video conference with several oblasts at one time,” Nikolai Lozovik stressed.

Apart from that, the center will host press conferences with the participation of political scientists, international foreign observers, electoral law specialists. The information center will also host other events directly related to the election campaign.

Press conferences will be held every two hours from 10am till 8pm on 11 October. The final press conference is scheduled for 11am on 12 October.

Belarusian reporters will be allowed to the information center on an accreditation certificate issued by the National Press Center and an ID. Foreign journalists will be able to attend the events in the information center on an accreditation certificate issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an ID. Foreign observers will have to present a certificate issued by the Central Election Commission and an ID, Nikolai Lozovik added.
