MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina and CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming and other representatives of the Chinese diplomatic mission on 9 September, CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik told BelTA.
The meeting was arranged upon request of the Chinese side. Belarus’ CEC informed the diplomats about preparations for the Belarus president election.
Answers were also given to questions asked by representatives of the Chinese diplomatic mission. In particular, the Chinese diplomats were informed about the procedure used to accredit observers in Belarus. The diplomats were informed in detail about the procedure used to register candidates for the post of the Belarus president. “The guests were also informed that diplomats, who are accredited and live in Belarus, can contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for accreditation as international observers. The Chinese guests said they would like to use the offer,” said Nikolai Lozovik.
Nikolai Lozovik specified that the CEC is the agency in charge of accreditation but they need a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to start the procedure. The CEC Secretary also noted that the international observer status grants wider capabilities to monitor the election to diplomats.
