MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – Belarusian diplomats should work calmly and responsibly through all the stages of the presidential election campaign. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei gave the relevant instructions during the conference of heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus on 17 July, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Makei noted that the year 2015 is a special one in view of the forthcoming presidential election. “This is why we bear special responsibility for preserving the policy aimed at steady and progressive development of our state. We should calmly and responsibly do our part of the work through all the stages of the election campaign,” stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
At the same time the official pointed out that the election campaign is not the only factor that the diplomatic missions and consular institutions should bear in mind. “We should responsibly fulfill the functions we are entrusted with in any situation and at any time,” said Vladimir Makei.
Held at premises of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference is supposed to sum up results of the annual seminar for heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus. The seminar began on 8 July. Participants of the conference are expected to assess the effectiveness of economy-related work and determine where the work stumbles over real problems and where sloppy performance is to blame.
The agenda of the seminar included topical matters of the country’s economic policy, peculiarities involved in the export of educational services, and Belarus’ role and place in the modern geopolitical space. During the annual seminar the ambassadors were able to meet with top executives of major Belarusian export companies.
