MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Private bank accounts have been opened by six prospective candidates for the post of the President of Belarus. The information is available on the official website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus, BelTA informs.
In line with the Electoral Code a private fund of the potential presidential candidate (or the presidential candidate) can contain his/her own resources, which cannot exceed 9,000 base amounts (at present one base amount is Br180,000). The resources can include voluntary donations of the citizens of Belarus (the amount of each of them cannot exceed 20 base amounts) and those of legal entities (not more than 50 base amounts).
As was informed, the Central Election Commission of Belarus has registered eight initiative groups to nominate Alexander Lukashenko, Sergei Kalyakin, Sergei Gaidukevich, Viktor Tereshchenko, Nikolai Ulakhovich, Zhanna Romanovskaya, Tatiana Korotkevich and Anatoly Lebedko as candidates for the post of the President of Belarus. In order to be nominated as a presidential candidate they are required to collect at least 100,000 valid support signatures from voters. Each voter can put his/her signature in support of several potential candidates.
