MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – There can be no absolutely uniform standards for organizing elections in the world, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina on 11 October.
The head of the Belarusian election organization agency explained that there is a convention on standards of democratic choices, electoral rights and freedoms in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Belarus has acceded to the document. “Nevertheless, I don’t think absolutely everything can be uniform because every country has its own traditions,” said Lidia Yermoshina.
The official mentioned that there are no main ballot days in several USA states, there is only early voting. “It is normal. It suits all the voters,” said the CEC head. But then there is absolutely no early voting in some other countries.
Lidia Yermoshina noted that uniform election evaluation standards are possible. “It is a more feasible idea,” said the head of the Belarusian election organization agency.
