MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – We would like Kyrgyz parliamentarians to take part in the monitoring of the presidential election in Belarus, Speaker of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Kyrgyz Ambassador to Belarus Kubanychbek Omuraliev, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the parliaments of the two countries have built a constructive relationship - their representatives constantly meet at the IPA CIS and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He asked the Ambassador to convey his gratitude to Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Asylbek Zheenbekov for the invitation to visit Kyrgyzstan and reminded that the similar invitation of the Belarusian side remains in force. "We have an important political event ahead (the presidential election – note by BelTA) and we have practically started this campaign. Therefore we will not be able to carry out the visit in the near future. You also have the parliamentary elections on 1 November. Let us finish our political campaigns and return to this question,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives noted that Belarus sent invitations to the CIS IPA, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and PACE to monitor the presidential election. “We want a large-scale monitoring. There will be no restrictions on our part in respect of the international observers’ participation,” Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized.
For its part, Belarus will also send its representatives (providing there is a corresponding invitation) to the missions of the aforementioned organizations to monitor the future parliamentary election in Kyrgyzstan.
