MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) –The alliance of observation missions praises a good organization of the Belarusian presidential election, Executive Director of the European Foundation for Democracy Roberta Bonazzi told reporters on 12 October, BelTA has learned.
Representatives of the alliance monitored the election in six regions of the country, visited about 80 polling stations. “Early voting and the voting on Sunday were well-organized,” Roberta Bonazzi said.
The experts mentioned the openness of the voting procedure, comfortable conditions created for the voters and observers at polling stations.
Roberta Bonazzi spoke about a number of drawbacks which were revealed by the observers of the alliance. These issues are insufficient and pertain to the design of ballot boxes and the format of ballot papers. The elimination of these drawbacks will help raise the transparency of the election process, the expert believes.
Observers of the alliance conducted a large-scale monitoring of the election campaign coverage in the mass media. The results of the monitoring will be included in the report of the alliance which is expected to be published on 25 October.
The alliance of observation missions is a group of international observers, which includes the European Institute Libertas (Germany), the European Foundation for Democracy (Belgium), and the European Democracy Institute (France).
