“Healthcare must remain among the major national priorities. This is one of those areas that define the quality of life and play an important role in the stability in any country. I would like to see this thesis supported by the delegates of the Belarusian people's forum,” Oleg Yadrentsev said.

According to him, the ways of the development of the industry in the coming years are spelled out in the state program “Health of the nation and demographic security of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020.” According to the document, the factors contributing to the country’s sustainable development include: improving physical and reproductive health, creating the preconditions for increasing the birthrate and life expectancy. I am convinced that the implementation of this program will make it possible to raise our healthcare to a new level,” Oleg Yadrentsev noted.

Oleg Yadrentsev heads a healthcare commission in the Gomel Oblast Council of Deputies. Therefore he is intimately familiar with the state of affairs in the regional healthcare system. Last year, for example, Br150 billion was invested in the infrastructure. The regional hospital had its surgery division reconstructed; the country’s first specialized spinal surgery department was opened. A vascular department was set up at the Regional Cardiology Center and a department of vascular surgery in the disabled veterans’ hospital.

New healthcare institutions were commissioned in Mozyr, Loyev, Petrikov, inter0district facilities were opened in Rechitsa and Gomel, Svetlogorsk. “This has been done within a year. We had approximately the same pace throughout the five-year period. As a result, the birthrate in Gomel increased from 10.6 per 1,000 in 2011 to 11.5 last year. The mortality rate at the beginning of the five-year period was 10.9 per 1,000. Last year it was 9.6. I think that these figures speak for themselves,” said the delegate of the Belarusian People’s Congress.
