GRODNO, 2 June (BelTA) – Raising living standards of Belarusians is one of the key tasks of municipal government agencies. The opinion was voiced by Sergei Lozhechnik, Chairman of the Shchuchin District Executive Committee, a delegate of the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress from Shchuchin District, Gomel Oblast, BelTA has learned.
The congress delegate noted that as the head of the district administration he believes the key task of the government is to change people’s lives for the better and raise their living standards. Encouraging private initiative is an important factor in this regard. “Every person should take a close look at what they are doing to improve the quality of their own life and the lives of their friends and families. No pains no gains often comes to mind,” said Sergei Lozhechnik.
The congress delegate noted that matters concerning the attraction of investments, export increase, and the establishment of competitive manufacturing enterprises come to the forefront. “If we manage to do that, we will get new jobs and the competitive ability of the economy as a whole will improve. But we should see plans of the previous five-year term through, we should hit the targets set by the programs we’ve started already. In my opinion, back then we chose the right policy. Now we have to complete and improve this work,” he believes.
The chosen policy has allowed increasing the industrial output in Shchuchin District by more than 2.3 times per employee in the last five years, with the share of innovative products in total shipments up by 2.7 times. Foreign investors come up with projects for the production sector and agriculture. Vigorous work to introduce alternative energy solutions is in progress in the district. As a result of government programs the agrarian sector has increased the milking herd and its productivity. The district capital and agrotowns have changed noticeably.
