VITEBSK, 7 April (BelTA) – The photo exhibition One Victory For All is meant to remind the young generation of the heroic deeds that occurred 70 years ago, Director General of the Belarusian News Agency BelTA Dmitry Zhuk said at the opening of the exhibition in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.
The exhibition, which travels around the regional centers of Belarus, is part of the national patriotic project Flowers of Great Victory! dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Belarusian News Agency BelTA often conducts such exhibitions. A few years ago, it arranged the exhibition Victors in Vitebsk presenting the portraits of war. "Unfortunately, the memory about the war is fading. We cannot let the younger generation to forget about the heroic deeds that occurred 70 years ago. Thanks to those events, we now live in an independent Belarus. The exhibition features the photos which can remind young people that war is not only about heroism. War also means death, fear and horror,” Dmitry Zhuk said.
Dmitry Zhuk noted that the exhibition is part in a series of the events that will be held in Vitebsk to honor the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Terentyev, chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies Alexander Atyasov, representatives of the veterans' and youth organizations.
Partaking in the event were students of the Vitebsk Cadet School and members of the reenactment club Comrades-in-Arms.
The exhibition features about 80 photos, including rarity black-and-white pictures from BelTA’s archives, photos of well-known war correspondents and little-known photos, digital color photography of BelTA’s correspondents. The exhibition One Victory for All highlights different sides and periods of war (frontline, partisan and underground fighters, suffering of civilians). A big share of works depicts the liberation of the country’s oblast cities and the post-war period.
The exhibition was first held in Gomel in March 2015 and then traveled to Mogilev. It wil stay open in Vitebsk until 15 April and will continue its tour of the Belarusian oblast centers.
