MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – In 2015 the Belarus-Russia Union State will hold many events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told journalists on 2 April, BelTA has learned.
“Both Belarus and Russia have prepared long lists of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The Belarus-Russia Union State also has a plan of celebrations. I should say that we will hold not just a number of separate events. Everything that we will be doing this year will be penetrated with the spirit of celebration,” Grigory Rapota noted.
For example, the International Arts Festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk, different scientific competitions, and press tours organized in the Belarus-Russia Union State will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
The Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia is celebrated on 2 April. On this very day the agreement on the creation of the Commonwealth of Russia and Belarus that marked the beginning of the creation of the Belarus-Russia Union State was signed in Moscow in 1996. For most Russian and Belarusian people the Day of Unity symbolizes the unbreakable ties that have existed between the two countries for many centuries and their shared aspirations to build their future together. The Belarus-Russia integration processes rely on a solid foundation of spiritual unity, common historical and human destiny, and mutual interest in further joint sustainable development.
