MOSCOW, 11 June (BelTA) – Minsk will be hosting the international school of historians dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War from 17 till 27 June. Its theme is "The Soviet Union in the Second World War and the current problems of history and historical memory", BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
Attending the school will be around 70 young historians and university teachers from research and education institutions of almost all the CIS countries. “The program of the school features seminars and roundtables that will encourage young historians to actively participate in discussions,” the press service said. The organizers of the school have plans to issue a digest with the lectures and reports by the participants.
The event will be hosted by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The financial and organizational support has been provided by the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the International Association of the Institutes of History of the CIS Countries, the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the State Academic University for Humanities.
