MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – The Ball of Victors for war veterans to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held in Minsk on 30 April, Irina Dudka, the vice-chairperson of the committee on labor, employment and social security of the Minsk City Hall, told BelTA.
The event at the exhibition center Belexpo will bring together about 500 veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The veterans will be greeted by representatives of the city authorities, ministries and departments and will enjoy a concert of Belarusian pop stars. The Ball of Victors will not go without surprises and gifts.
Given the senior age of the veterans, the organizers of the event will help them get to the venue, provide an accompanying person and will also offer them free hairdressing and other kinds of services.
The first veterans’ ball was held in Minsk on 19 June 2014. It was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders. The ceremony was attended by 500 veterans of the Great Patriotic War from Minsk and also 30 members of the Moscow City Council of Veterans who took part in the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders in 1944.
