70th anniversary of the Great Victory

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - The academic community of Belarus highly appreciates the participation of the Chinese delegation in the celebrations in observance of the 70th anniversary of Victory, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Vladimir Gusakov said during a meeting with the delegation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, BelTA has learned.

We appreciate the participation of the Chinese delegation led by President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Victory in World War II. Unfortunately, China also got to know the hardships of those years. China’s losses during the war were staggering. The population of the occupied provinces was subjected to genocide. It was a great tragedy, said Vladimir Gusakov

"Our peoples had much in common in the past. Therefore we would like to start working on a joint research paper or a monograph on the history of the Second World War which would cover its course in the lands of Belarus and China in new dimensions," Vladimir Gusakov said.
