MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The embassies of Belarus and Russia in Hungary have agreed to cooperate in the sphere of military memorials, representatives of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Budapest told BelTA.
On 3 April Ambassador of Belarus to Hungary Alexander Khainovsky and head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Hungary Vladimir Sergeyev signed a memorandum of cooperation in the sphere of military memorials between the embassies of the CIS states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia), which are accredited in Hungary. The document provides for organizing joint commemorative events and interaction in archive work for the sake of finding graves of Soviet soldiers in Hungary and immortalizing their memory.
On the same day representatives of the diplomatic missions of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan in Hungary took part in a ceremony of laying wreaths at the monument to Soviet soldiers in the center of Budapest. The event was timed to the 70th anniversary of Hungary’s liberation from the Nazi invaders.
