Bulegenov: Memory of Great Patriotic War is sacred in Belarus

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – The memory of the Great Patriotic War is sacred in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ergali Bulegenov said during the presentation of the book Victory – One For All. Kazakhstan-Belarus, BelTA has learned.

In his words, the memory of the war is sacred both in Belarus and Kazakhstan. Belarus remembers the Kazakh soldiers who fought on its territory and whose lives were inseparably connected with it. “We are endlessly thankful to the Belarusian people and government for the commemoration of Kazakh soldiers and all Red Army defenders. The common memory of the war and commemoration of the Belarusian and Kazakhstani people who died in that war are an ever-living source of unbreakable friendship between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Belarus,” the diplomat noted.

The Ambassador emphasized that the two brotherly countries will never review the results of the Great Patriotic War. “The Victory is in our blood. Whole families come to visit the graves of our fathers and grandfathers who died in that war,” he added. “I can say that we will never swerve from this path, because the memory of the war is communicated across generations,” Ergali Bulegenov noted.

The book Victory – One For All. Kazakhstan-Belarus was issued to mark the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. It tells about Kazakhs who fought in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. The book features biographies and portrait photographs of 83 Heroes of the Soviet Union who were born in Kazakhstan and fought on the territory of Belarus. It tells about the participation of Kazakhs in the partisan movement, about the selflessness and courage they demonstrated during the liberation of Belarus in 1943-1944. The book also includes photos of memorials, obelisks, communal graves and cemeteries that commemorate the Kazakh soldiers who defended Belarus.
