MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – The feature film Brest Fortress was screened at the Belarusian Embassy in Brazil as part of a series of the events to mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil Leonid Krupets made a welcome address to those attending the screening. He emphasized Belarus’ contribution to the defeat of the Nazi Germany and the importance of the Victory Day to the countries of Europe and the former Soviet Union. The diplomat pointed out that it is crucial to preserve the memory of the victims of that war and the heroism of the people who contributed to the victory over the Nazi regime in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Leonid Krupets also awarded a number of Brazilian citizens commendations for their contribution to the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The photo exposition 70 Years of the Great Victory was organized as part of the event.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MPs, scientists, businessmen, and people of art.
