MOSCOW, 13 May (BelTA) – The exhibition, Brest Fortress Chronicle in Pictures, opened at the Embassy of Belarus in Russia in Moscow on 13 May, BelTA has learned.
Apart from photo materials, the exposition includes unique artifacts of the Brest Fortress defense, materials from family archives telling about the participants of the battles.
“Today Brest Fortress is a generally recognized historical monument. For us it is also a symbol of courage and grief. The main thing is that the Brest Fortress is a symbol of memory. This memory should be preserved, and the exhibition will help us to do it,” deputy director of the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Larisa Bibik said at the opening ceremony.
According to Larisa Bibik, the exposition has already travelled to the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Kazakhstan. Now it is on display for the Russian people.
“To attend this expo is a great event. Visiting Brest I always recall those horrible first days of the war,” participant of the Brest Fortress defense Piotr Kotelnikov stressed.
The exhibition, Brest Fortress Chronicle in Pictures, is held as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event has been organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Russia and the directorate of the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial.
