VITEBSK, 23 May (BelTA) – The fourth international scientific conference “Berkov’s readings. Book culture in the context of international relations: the 500th year anniversary of the Belarusian book printing” will be held in Polotsk on 24-25 May, BelTA learned from the organizers.
The conference will bring together scholars of the academies of sciences, major universities, museums, archives, and libraries of Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, and the Czech Republic. The participants are set to consider a wide range of issues related to the development of book culture, traditions, literature, textual communication, the history of book and manuscript collections, rare books, etc.
The seminar “Francysk Skaryna, a personality, heritage, and modern images” will discuss the new information about the life and work of the outstanding educator, the historical memory about him. The exhibition prepared by the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences will be co-located with the seminar.
The conference will be held under the auspices of the International Association of Academies of Sciences.
The forum has been organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and the Polotsk national historical and cultural museum-reserve.
