MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – The OSCE PA summer session in Minsk has contributed to enhancing trust and cooperation in the region, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Boleslav Pirshtuk said at the closing plenary session of the OSCE PA Annual Session in Minsk on 9 July, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian MP noted that over the course of the session, its participants once again made sure that there is nothing more useful than an open and constructive dialogue. “Together, we have made progress towards stronger trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity,” Boleslav Pirshtuk stressed.
The session saw heated debates on a wide range of pressing issues of concern to the countries of the region. “Not all the points of difference have been resolved. We still hold different views on many issues. However, truth is born of arguments. I suppose this is the essence of parliamentary diplomacy,” the MP said.
Boleslav Pirshtuk added that it was a great honor and responsibility for Belarus to host OSCE PA’s major forum. “We see this as recognition of Belarus’ growing influence, its traditionally constructive role and balanced position on various items on the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE in general,” the MP emphasized.
The OSCE PA session that ran in Minsk from 5 to 9 July discussed ways to enhance trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region.
