MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the resolution on the state of affairs in Eastern Europe that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe adopted on 8 July is confrontational. Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the relevant statement on 8 July, BelTA has learned.
The spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Indeed, [the resolution on the state of affairs in Eastern Europe] one of the 16 resolutions adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly contains a number of paragraphs dedicated to the situation in Belarus. The document is confrontational as a whole. Belarus has been persistent in opposing such resolutions, which add no value. Apart from failing to help countries to deal with domestic problems of any nature whatsoever such resolutions lead to further increase in tensions and growing mistrust in relations between nations.”
The fact that the title of the document, which claims to present a comprehensive analysis of the situation in the Eastern Europe region, fails to correspond to the content of the document is remarkable, added Dmitry Mironchik. “At the same time we hope that motivated discussions, an open dialogue, and personal impressions of visiting our country will contribute to more objective evaluations of the situation in Belarus by OSCE PA members later on,” he stated.
