MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – About 700 specialists will take care of broadcasting during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, BelTA learned from Manolo Romero, Managing Director of International Sports Broadcasting (ISB) Company, the host broadcaster of the forthcoming sport forum, at a briefing in the Minsk stadium Dinamo on 6 March.
Manolo Romero said it was the third time he had come to the central arena of the European Games but this time he had brought a large team to Minsk. “We will have to discuss a lot of matters soon, including with organizers of the opening and closing ceremonies – Art City 5 Company. We don’t expect any difficulties with broadcasting per se. The stadium suits TV broadcasting well. We will just have to find the most spectacular angles. Certainly, the opening and closing ceremonies deserve close attention. Our job is to show a perfect picture of what is going on at the stadium to the TV viewers. During the games we intend to use about 700 specialists. About 150 people will be hired locally. We will organize training sessions, which will help the personnel improve their professional skills. About 300 interviews have been held recently. We are satisfied with those, who will work with us. Apart from that, experience of working during such events will be an excellent boon to the Belarusian specialists, who will continue working in mass media business,” the executive said.
The ISB managing director mentioned how much special broadcasting equipment will be used to take care of broadcasting from Minsk. “Right now we are talking about 30-40 heavy trucks full of equipment, which will help us offer top quality picture. We’ve also discussed the construction of a broadcasting center, which will serve as our base of operations for the duration of the games. We intend to start installing equipment in mid-May and finish it in mid-June. It will give us time to prepare personnel right before the games. The schedule is tight, this is why we don’t want to lose a minute of time. We are now testing the grid, which will connect arenas with the broadcasting center. I’d like to note it works very well, we are impressed with the pace of the work. A report on preparing the broadcasting of road cycling competitions has also been put together. We intend to fly a helicopter and try various angles to show the race,” he said.
Manolo Romero mentioned vigorous sales of the rights to show the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 on television. “So far TV companies have bought rights to broadcast the games in over 150 countries. Broadcasts from Minsk will be available even in New Zealand and Latin America. One can conclude now that the TV audience of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 will be unbelievably large,” the ISB Company managing director stressed.
The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in eight sports will be qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Competitions in badminton, boxing, and judo will be held in the format of European championships.
