MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas met with members of the Belarusian sports delegation for the 2nd European Games in the Athletes’ Village in Minsk on 20 June, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to wish everyone good luck. We will all be rooting for you. This is a milestone event for you. You have trained hard for it. We hope to see you on the podium. Good luck,” Sergei Rumas said.
Belarusian athletes asked the prime minister which sports he preferred. “There are two sports I am doing today: tennis and swimming. I used to play ice hockey. These are good sports. I can advise them to everyone,” he said.
Sergei Rumas also visited the clinic and the catering facility of the Athletes’ Village. Athletes who will be marking their birthdays during the 2nd European Games will be treated to a cake.
The Belarusian sports delegation at the 2nd European Games (a total of 389 people, including 220 athletes) will be represented in 23 disciplines across 15 sports. The delegation has been accommodated in the dormitory of the Belarusian State Economic University (Chyurlenis Street).
The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June. The games will feature over 4,000 of the continent’s best athletes from 50 nations competing in 200 medal events across 15 sports. Belarus will compete in acrobatics, aerobics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle, women’s and Greco-Roman wrestling, road and track cycling, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, canoe sprint, judo, karate, athletics, trampoline, sambo, archery, rifle&pistol and shotgun shooting, table tennis, and beach soccer.
