MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – The number of medal events at the Second European Games 2019 will be increased, Director General of the Fund of the Directorate of the Second European Games 2019 Georgy Katulin said at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees, BelTA informs.
“The number of medal events will be increased to 208. Three new disciplines in archery will be added. Two more events will also be added in the women’s, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling each. One event, the men’s C2 200, will join the canoe and kayak competitions. The current world’s C2 200 champion is Artyom Kozyr of Belarus,” said Georgy Katulin.
Belarus was chosen to host the Second European Games in 2019 at the 45th session of the EOC General Assembly in Minsk in October 2016. The Second European Games in Minsk will be taking place on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling(freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling), cycling (track cycling and road bicycle racing), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), rowing (kayak and canoe competitions), judo, karate, track and field athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football.
