Minsk infrastructure’s readiness for 2nd European Games reviewed

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Preparing Minsk’s infrastructure for the European Games 2019 was discussed at the regular session of the organizing committee chaired by Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov on 28 July, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

Participants of the session discussed getting Minsk’s infrastructure ready for the 2nd European Games, financing preparations for the games, the acquisition of the system to scan tickets, and the accommodation of the games’ directorate.

Andrei Kobyakov said that the head of state had approved the committee’s proposals concerning the concept of the 2nd European Games brand and had been informed about approaches to the kinds of sport and the main provisions of the contract.

Apart from that, the prime minister pointed out that it is necessary to work out precise approaches to financing the hosting of the games. “The state budget has no extra money for it. We will buy only necessary things. This is why I would like you to make precise calculations, justify the spending of every ruble, look for other reserves, and work on reducing the cost of equipment and services. These matters should be treated very responsibly,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

Belarus was granted the right to host the 2nd European Games during the 45th session of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Minsk in October 2016. Bright Year, Bright You will be the official slogan of the 2nd European Games. A Russian version of the slogan and a Belarusian one will be available, too.
