MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian delegation is expected to visit the UN headquarters in April to present the forthcoming 2nd European Games, CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) George Katulin told the media at BelTA’s press center during the signing of the memorandum of understanding between MEGOC and UNAIDS on 12 March.

The visit will be held to open of a themed photo exhibition that will feature the achievements of Belarusian athletes and the information about the forthcoming games. The program will also include presentation films and the European Games merchandise, meetings with representatives of the United Nations, and the ceremony to award the European Games Star Ambassador status. “We will also talk about the UN programs which are implemented in the country in connection with the 2nd European Games,” said George Katulin.

In his words, MEGOC has developed a large European Games promotion program which envisages not only cooperation with international organizations, but also interaction with media partners, organization of flashmobs, and presentations. The next campaign is scheduled for 6 April during the celebration of the UN International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

“One of the areas of our work is to maximize the involvement of children in sports, creating every necessary condition for this. We have also implemented a training program for volunteers (their total number will exceed 8,000 people). We are determined to provide a good organization of the games, show our hospitality which is Belarus famous for, so that every participant had only positive memories about Belarus, could invite their loved ones and friends to visit the country,” George Katulin said.
