MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) - Belarus’ Volha Khudzenka won the Women’s K1 500m gold at the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian managed to withstand strong winds and high waves at Zaslavl Regatta Course to cross the finish line first.
Serbia’s Milica Starovic grabbed the lead at the very start, but gave way to Belarus’ Volha Khudzenka and Olympic champion Danuta Kozak from Hungary after 250 meters. The Belarusian clocked 2:03.929. Danuta Kozak came in second, 2:04.176. Bronze went to Emma Joergensen of Denmark (2:04.989).
Volha Khudzenka placed second in the event at the Poznan World Cup this season.
On the first competition day in Zaslavl Volha Khudzenka teamed up with Maryna Litvinchuk claimed gold in the Women’s K2 500m.
Ten more medal events are scheduled for 27 June at Zaslavl Regatta Course.
