Second European Games in Belarus

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian team will show high results at the 2^nd European Games 2019, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said at a government’s session held on 18 December to discuss the development of summer sports in the country, BelTA has learned.

When asked about the preparations for the European Games, the minister stated that the athletes are able to do well. “We will show a good result at the European Games in Minsk in 2019,” said Sergei Kovalchuk.

Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes will compete in 200 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in nine sports will serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. Competitions in badminton, boxing, canoe sprint and judo will be held in the format of European championships.
