MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) - Volunteers of the 2nd European Games will undergo special language training. The agreement on this was signed by George Katulin, CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), and Eduard Tselyuk, the head of the Educational Technology center (School of Foreign Languages Streamline), BelTA has learned.
The center, which employs more than 200 teachers, will give special language training courses to volunteers of the 2nd European Games 2019 and will also develop a test program to assess foreign language skills of candidates to volunteers. It will also equip volunteers with glossaries for all kinds of sports, European Games venues and many other things. The center has been assigned the status “Organization providing educational and language support to the 2nd European Games 2019”.
“We cannot overemphasize the importance of language support for the upcoming event. The main driving force of the future games are volunteers, and they must constantly improve their skills,” George Katulin said.
Minsk European Games Organizing Committee and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Belarus also signed a memorandum to strengthen cooperation in the field of development of the personality, talents, mental and physical abilities, to provide children with equal opportunities for cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure activity through educational and humanitarian heritage of the European Games. Parties to the memorandum are going to hold a series of joint public entertainment-sports, social, educational and recreational activities as part of the European Games.
“We are planning to engage as many children as possible in the education part of the sport. Together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) we will pay attention to the traditional mission which is to upbring young generation through sports,” George Katulin said.
UNICEF representative in Belarus Rashed Mustafa Sarwar received the status of Star Ambassador of the 2nd European Games.
