MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - The international gear and accreditation center of the 2nd European Games opened at the Belarusian State University of Physical Education on 1 April, BelTA learned.
"The center is expected to provide accreditation services to around 40,000 people. Mostly these will be volunteers, international and national referees, staff of sports facilities and contracting agencies. The accreditation card is a protected document made of special paper. It has a hologram sticker to verify the authenticity of the document,” said Anton Lyakho, Head of the Accreditation Department of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC).
The center will also provide various client groups, including volunteers, international and national referees with necessary gear, he added.
Lesik the Fox, the mascot of the 2nd European Games, was the first to undergo the accreditation procedure in the center.
The international gear and accreditation center will stay open till 30 June 2019. It will employ 22 volunteer experts and four specialists from the MEGOC who will oversee the process.
Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. The program of the 2nd European Games features competitions in 15 sports. A total of 12 sport venues will be used during the games, the biggest of which are Dinamo Olympic stadium, Minsk Arena, Chizhovka Arena, Minsk Palace of Sports. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events.
