MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) - Competition program of the second edition of the summer European Games will be approved in the spring of 2017, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
At the meeting in Lausanne, the Executive Committee of the European Olympic committees (EOC) considered the first report on Minsk's preparedness for the European Games. The readiness of sports infrastructure for Minsk 2019 and program options got positive feedback from the members of the Executive Committee. Discussion of the sports to be included in the program is currently in progress. Not all European federations have signed yet the relevant memorandums and agreements with the EOC,” Belarus NOC Secretary General said.
The final program will be adopted in the spring of 2017 after the EOC Coordination Commission for the second edition of the European Games in 2019 in Minsk holds a meeting in the Belarusian capital.
Belarus was given the right to host the Second European Games in 2019 after a vote at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Minsk on 21 October. The first edition of the European Games was held in Azerbaijan on 12-28 June 2015. Belarus won 43 (10 gold, 11 silver and 22 bronze) medals to place seventh in the medal table.
