MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Technical delegates of the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) checked the readiness of the facilities to be used during the 2nd European Games in Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC).
ESC representatives Petros Kyritsis and Wilhelm Xaver Grill visited the Sporting Club which will be hosting medal events of the 2nd European Games in shotgun shooting and the Timoshenko Shooting Center (shooting rifle&gun competitions).
“The overall impression is positive. During the next visit, it will be possible to get a more complete picture of the stands for spectators and the infrastructure necessary for athletes. There are some issues that need to be addressed, such as the transportation of participants, and additional equipment of the facility. However, the shooting range is 90% ready. It remains only to improve part of the infrastructure. I am confident these will be great competitions that will make important legacy in the development of shooting sports in the world and Belarus,” said Wilhelm Xaver Grill.
The technical delegates also discussed with the Belarusian Shooting Sports Federation the organization of test competitions.
The shotgun and rifle&gun competitions will be held on 22-28 June as part of the 2nd European Games. Winners in the Olympic programs will earn berths for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
At the 1st European Games in Baku Belarusian athletes won four (one gold and three bronze) medals in rifle&gun shooting.
