EOC Coordination Commission hails Minsk’ preparedness for 2nd European Games
MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – Representatives of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) praised Minsk’s preparedness for the 2nd European Games, Chairman of the EOC Coordination Commission Spyros Capralos told the media on 6 September following the visit of the EOC delegation to the Belarusian capital, BelTA has learned.
“Representatives of the European Olympic Committees inspected the Dinamo Stadium, commissioned in August 2018, facilities for shooting sports, the Uruchye Palace of Sports. We are all impressed with the readiness of Minsk for the start of the Games. We are happy with the Games ongoing promotion campaign. The commission still needs to work on the organization of temporary facilities to be used during the Games,” said Spyros Capralos.
Ahead of the EOC Coordination Commission meeting, George Katulin, CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), said that the sports facilities for the Games should be fully ready in May 2019.
The next meeting of the EOC Coordination Commission is due to take place in Minsk in mid October.
The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling (freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling), cycling (track and road), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), canoe sprint competitions, judo, karate, athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football.
