MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – The cultural program of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 will include a show tournament in cybersport, representatives of the Belarusian Cybersport Federation told BelTA.
The Belarusian Cybersport Federation intends to organize a major tournament in the football simulator FIFA 19 by inviting players from famous European and CIS football clubs. Work is in progress on the format of the show, the list of clubs, and other details.
Chairman of the Belarusian Cybersport Federation Denis Bogush welcomed the inclusion of cybersport into the cultural program of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 as a significant event for the federation and cybersport as a whole. “We’ve been working towards the goal for a long time. The accomplishment confirms the significance of the work we’ve done,” he said.
According to the source, it will not be the first time traditional sport and cybersport are featured together in the international sport arena. During the 2018 Asian Games the Olympic Council of Asia authorized cybersport show tournaments in League of Legends, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer, Clash Royale and Arena of Valor. The games will be included into the main program in 2022.
