MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – The best designs of the contest to develop a mascot of the 2019 European Games will be displayed in Minsk on 14 November, BelTA learned from the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union.
On the initiative of the BRSM, the National House of Youth will host a presentation of the best works of the open national contest to develop a mascot for the 2019 European Games in Minsk. The contest was organized by Belarus’ National Olympic Committee, the Information Ministry, the Directorate of the Second European Games 2019, and the National State TV and Radio Company.
Participants of the youth forum (a total of over 300 BRSM leaders and active members from across the country) will be invited to take part in a symbolic vote for best designs submitted to the contest. According to the organizers, despite the fact that the vote will by no means influence the results of the competition, it is meant to become an impetus for those who have yet to submit an application for participation. “The open national contest to develop a mascot for the Second European Games 2019 in Minsk is on the home stretch. The application deadline is 15 November. Then, the professional jury will select one out of almost a thousand works to become the calling card of the 2019 European Games. It should be the most spectacular and eye-catching one and should also blend seamlessly with the general concept of one of the major sports events in the world – a mixture of Olympic ceremonies with the traditional national holiday Kupalye,” the BRSM Central Committee noted.
Members of the BRSM volunteer movement Kind Heart will arrange a venue “Volunteer: The Soul of Sport” to help fill in the application form for participation in the 2019 European Games in the capacity of volunteer.
At the exhibition, members of the Belarusian delegation to the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi are to present a book of good wishes to the Belarusian athletes due to take part in the 2019 European Games. The book contains messages and autographs for the Belarusian team from regular fans from throughout the world as well as from the famous Belarusian native, Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, the legendary wrestler, three-time Olympic champion and nine-time world champion Alexander Karelin, head of Russia’s Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov, the Cuban education minister, and other prominent people.
