MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian sambo wrestler Uladzislau Burdz has won a bronze medal during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, BelTA has learned.
In the fight for the bronze medal in the weight category under 57kg Uladzislau Burdz beat Turkey’s Emre Celik 6:0.
While talking to reporters after the fight, Uladzislau Burdz noted that preparations had been normal, weight loss had been easy. “I’ve lost the fight for the finals. I’ve wrestled with this athlete five or six times and I still cannot come up with a winning strategy. I was a bronze winner during the 1st European Games. I’ve repeated my success at home. But certainly one always wants more. Any athlete dreams to be the best,” he said.
As many as 144 athletes are competing for 18 sets of medals in the course of the sambo tournament during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019. The competition will end in Minsk’s Sports Palace on 23 June.
