MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Guests and athletes of the 2nd European Games will have an opportunity to enjoy classical art by attending the event of the Belarusian State Philharmonic, the soloist of the philharmonic, pianist, the initiator of the 12-hour Piano Marathon Artem Shaplyko told a press conference, BelTA has learned.
The musician said that he had the idea of holding the marathon as he took part in a similar event in Spain. “During the marathon that was running from 10 in the morning till 10 in the evening I had this idea that it would be great to have a similar event in Minsk. I am very happy that the Belarusian State Philharmonics supported me, and that my dream came true. We are bringing together the best performers on one stage. I ma proud and honored to see the marathon included in the cultural program of the 2nd European Games,” he said.
Big Piano Marathon will be held on 22 June in the Belarusian State Philharmonic and will last for 12 hours.
Director of the IT-company GP Solutions, the founder of the project “The World of Classical Music” Maria Bondarenko is helping organize the marathon. “The Piano Marathon is not only about a classical music concert on the big stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society. There will be an additional interesting interactive event. We will put a piano in the hall of the philharmonic and any amateur pianist will be welcome to show his skills,” she said. “We are now witnessing a movement in Belarus when self-taught pianists or people who have graduated from a music school a long time ago gather and play together. We will be happy to become part of the Big Piano Marathon,” Maria Bondarenko added.

It also offers a buy ticket option. “We want this to turn into a regular event. This is why we are doing our best to make the information visible to as amny people as possible. We want Belarusian musicians to realize themselves at home,” she added.
The marathon will feature the concerts “Two maestros and students” featuring Igor Olovnikov, Yuri Gildyuka, Yelena Naumenko, Anna Syrneva, Algerd Grishchenko, Yelizaveta Morozova, “Levels of Skills” featuring Veronika Sakharova, “Children are Playing” featuring students of the National Music College at the Belarusian State Academy of Music, Artgrand featuring Artem and Marina Shaplyko, Con Anima feattuing Aleksandr Polyakov and Yulia Arkhangelskaya. The lineup will also include Natalya Kotova, Valery Borovikov, Aleksandr Muzykantov, Marina Romeiko, Aleksei Pshenichny, Yulia Yermolayeva, Anastasia Alekseychik and Aleksandr Danilov. The last concert on the program of the marathon will be “Virtuosos. Duels. Piano four- and six-hands”.
The cultural program of the 2nd European Games will also feature concerts on 12 and 23 June. The State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Belarus under the baton of Aleksandr Anisimov will perform on the stage of the Big Concert Hall of the Belarusian Philharmonic on 12 June. Maestro Aleksandr Anisimov has chosen Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya to close the season. The program will also include the symphonic epilogue from the Mlada opera and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No.1. The Moonlight concert on 23 June will be a combination of music, literature, dance and painting. The concert will feature works of Antonio Vivaldi, Astor Piazzolla, Friedrich Kuhlau, Harold Arlen, Claude Debussy, Johann Christian Bach, Giulio Caccini, Ludwig van Beethoven.
The Belarusian State Philharmonic has announced the launch of a series of classical summer evenings at the Minsk Town Hall on 20 July. “It is a lovely open-air festival open to all,” Director of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus Olga Tsetserskaya said. “Then, at the end of July, the orchestra will tour across the cities of Germany where it will perform the music of contemporary movies. The 82nd symphony concert season of the Belarusian Philharmonic will open on 20 September,” she added.
