MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian and Russian border services have discussed how 2nd European Games fans will be allowed to enter Belarus from Russia, BelTA learned from the website of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
The 52nd session of the board of the Border Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia took place in Mogilev on 25 April. Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anatoly Lappo, First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, Chief of the FSB Border Service Vladimir Kulishov as well as other officials took part in the session. Participants of the session discussed the improvement of Belarusian and Russian laws in the sphere of border security as well as scientific support for their work. Apart from that, preparations for and organization of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 were discussed. The sides came to terms on how participants and fans will be able to enter Belarus from Russia within the framework of the bilateral agreement, which was signed in Minsk on 29 May 2018. The procedure for interaction between the Belarusian and Russian border services was determined.
Participants of the session also reviewed progress in implementing the Union State border security enhancement program for the 2017-2021 period. The program stems from the main provisions of the concept of the border policy of the union of Belarus and Russia. The program’s implementation is supposed to improve border security service effectiveness by means of accomplishing the external border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. It will also enable favorable conditions for the work of Belarusian and Russian border guards. The decisions made during the session will allow taking joint efforts to the next level in addition to more effectively using the joint capabilities to ensure the border security of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
