MOGILEV, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus may invite Interpol experts to the 2nd European Games in 2019, Belarusian Internal Affairs Minister Igor Shunevich told the media ahead of the board meeting of the Interior Department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee on 29 January, BelTA has learned.
“We are not going to invite anyone from outside to enforce law here. As for experts, be it from Interpol or any other law enforcement agency, this issue is under discussion. There is a little need for that. Interpol can provide us with additional information, as it has great capacities for that. However, this is the only way it can be helpful to us. In any other cases we are able to perform all the tasks ourselves,” the minister said.
According to Igor Shunevich, the Belarusian police have already gained solid experience in ensuring law and order during big events. “We have enough forces and means. We will need some additional funds to acquire vehicles and special-purpose equipment. We are confident that we will be able to ensure security, law and order during the 2nd European Games,” he said.
