MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian athlete Maryna Slutskaya (the weight category of over 78kg) has won a gold medal during the judo tournament of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, BelTA has learned.
In the final bout Maryna Slutskaya met Larisa Ceric from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Belarusian tried to get a grip of her adversary first and throw her down but failed to implement the plans in the regular time. In the additional time Maryna Slutskaya won the fight.
As for the Belarusian men, Daniel Mukete (100kg) demonstrated the best results. He came in fifth today after losing the fight for the bronze to the Rio de Janeiro Olympics champion Cyrille Maret from France.
The athletes are competing for 15 sets of medals. The competitions will end on 25 June.
MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to member of the national judo team Maryna Slutskaya on winning gold at the 2nd European Games on 24 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“Dear Maryna! We trusted in you and we are delighted to see you on the top of the podium of the 2nd European Games 2019. This victory is another testimony to your skills, stable performance and the focus on high results,” the message of greetings runs.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the athlete every success in her future sporting accomplishments in the name of Belarus.
