Belarus launches multidirectional training of volunteers for 2019 European Games

SOCHI, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus has launched multidirectional training of volunteers for 2019 European Games, Education Minister Igor Karpenko told the media on the sidelines of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students on 17 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Igor Karpenko, there are language, organizational, technical and other programs that train volunteers in various areas. Additionally, young people will learn the details of different sports, rules in escorting teams. “The Education Ministry is developing these programs in cooperation with the Directorate of the Second European Games,” he said.

The minister is heading the Belarusian delegation at the World Festival of Youth and Students. The Education Ministry is interested in the experience of organizing such large-scale events and, first of all, the training of volunteers. Igor Karpenko leads the corresponding subcommittee at the organizing committee of the Second European Games. “It is important for us to study the specifics of training volunteers at the World Festival of Youth and Students,” the minister said.

The Second European Games in Minsk will be taking place on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling(freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling), cycling (track cycling and road bicycle racing), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), rowing (kayak and canoe competitions), judo, karate, track and field athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football. 189 medals events will be held in 23 sport disciplines.
